Admin
The paperwork that keeps a charity legal and running.
IT
Keeping things working, which is a job in any organisation.
Events
The talent contest, fundraisers and everything at the hubs.
Merchandise
Making and selling the handmade gifts at Hub 3.

Out in the community with a bucket.

Roles we're looking to fill
These are the specific gaps at the moment. Anything from half a day to three days a week is welcome — we're grateful for whatever you can give. Every role needs a DBS check and we'll help you get one.
Shop assistants
Serving in the charity shop, sorting donations and keeping the place looking right. The busiest of the lot, and the one we are shortest of.
Photography group leader
Tuesdays, 4–6pm
Running the weekly photography group at Hub 2. You would not need to be a professional — enough to get a group going and keep it enjoyable.
Dementia group leader
Mondays, 1–3pm
Running the weekly dementia group at Hub 1. Patience matters here far more than experience, though experience is welcome.
Vinted seller — from home
Listing and selling donated items on Vinted, photographing and posting them from your own home. Good if you would like to help but cannot get to the hubs.
Office and admin
Ringing round schools and nurseries, booking them in and getting the resources out to them, and helping get the charity's name about. If you are comfortable on the phone, this is the one that moves the needle.
IT
Handling the online sales — the listings, the orders and the side of things that keeps money coming in from what people donate.

“It brought back confidence I was suppressing”
When I was first invited to join Mugs and Mates as a service user, I was feeling pretty low. Once I got to trust the guys, I was able to open up about my problems without fear of the confidentiality being broken.
My mental health improved greatly over a few months, and then I started volunteering with Kindness Counts themselves. This really helped me because it has brought back confidence that I was suppressing due to the health problems I was, and still am, dealing with.
If it wasn’t for the invite to join Mugs and Mates then I doubt I would feel as positive as I do now.

We're looking for help right now
Two things we especially need a hand with at the moment: our busy charity shop, and promoting the charity in the local community.
Every hour you give helps us spread kindness and support others. Pop into the hub, or ring us and we’ll tell you what we need.
What we ask
Not much, honestly
Time, as much or as little as you have. Some volunteers are here most days, some do one event a year. Both are useful.
A DBS check. Every role needs one, whatever it is — and we’ll help you get it. You don’t need to have one already, and it costs you nothing.
That’s it. No experience needed, no interview panel, no minimum commitment.
How to join us
Come and see us
Volunteering with us starts with a conversation, in person. There’s no online application form, and that’s deliberate.
Come to the hub any time we’re open and ask for Michelle. We’ll sit down with you, fill the form in together and talk about what you’d like to do. It takes about ten minutes, and you’ll meet the people you’d be working alongside.

Volunteering here is unpaid
A paid professional role
We're looking for qualified counsellors
We are looking for additional qualified counsellors to join the team and help us keep providing support to children, young people and adults across the Fylde coast. This is paid work, not volunteering — counselling is clinical, and it is done by qualified people who are paid for it.
Sessions run from the community hub and in schools. If you are qualified and interested, get in touch and we will talk it through.
