Who we are
Helping the whole community, 0 to 100
We're an anti-bullying charity based in Thornton-Cleveleys, working across the Fylde coast. Old and young — everybody needs somebody at some point.

Where it started
It started with a dog
Nic is a real dog. Michelle wrote a book about him — A Puppy’s Story — and that book is the reason this charity exists. It’s a story about kindness turning up when it’s needed, which is more or less the whole idea.
Nic is our mascot now. He’s on the certificates children get when someone nominates them for an act of kindness, and he’s the one keeping them company in our learning section.

Our work
What we actually do
In schools
We give schools resources their own pupils have asked for — buddy benches, planters, bird feeders, uniforms for families who can't stretch to them. The requests come from youth champions, pupils who know what's needed because they're the ones being told.
At the hubs
Three hubs, open Monday to Saturday. A sensory room for autistic and dementia visitors. A room where children being bullied can talk to someone. Meeting rooms. A soft play area. A charity shop and a gift shop that help pay for the rest.
With families
Children who fell behind with reading during covid, and home-schooled children, come in to learn. Parents come with them — we're not a nursery and we don't teach in their place. We give them somewhere to do it and something to work from.
For other charities
We're one of the few charities that collects for other charities. Our recycling buckets gather items — clothes, food, all sorts — for seven other local causes.
Youth champions
85%
of children wouldn’t tell a parent or a teacher. They’d tell a classmate.
Working with Lancaster University, we surveyed 400 schools. That finding shapes everything: rather than asking children to come to adults, we work with the classmates they’d go to anyway.

Quite right too. Our safeguarding policy sets out how we work with children, and every volunteer is DBS checked before they start.
