Where kindness began

A Puppy’s Story

Nic is a real dog, and this is his book. Michelle wrote it, and it's the reason there's a charity at all.

The book

The story of Nicholas

Everything here — the hubs, the buddy benches, the yellow t-shirts — started with one story about kindness turning up when it was needed.

Michelle wrote it about Nicholas, known to everyone as Nic. He became the charity’s mascot, and he’s been at the middle of it ever since.

We're writing this page properly

The book is on its way to us from the printer. Once we’ve read it we’ll tell the story here in the charity’s own words — enough to make you want to read it, not a substitute for reading it.

These days

Nic gets about

He’s on the certificate every child receives when someone nominates them for an act of kindness. He’s in our learning section, keeping children company through reading, spelling and times tables. He turns up at the gala in person, more or less.

For a dog, he has a full diary.
