Anti-Bullying Week: Break the Silence

This year's theme asks people to start the conversation — to speak up, to listen, and to do something about it together. We're running free assemblies in schools across the Fylde coast, and wearing yellow on the Friday.

The week

Two days to put in the diary

Anti-Bullying Week runs from Monday 16 to Friday 20 November 2026. Two days in it need planning for.

Monday 16 November

Odd Socks Day

The week opens with Odd Socks Day. Children and adults wear odd socks to school and to work — no costume, no cost, nothing to buy — to celebrate the fact that none of us match. It is run nationally by the Anti-Bullying Alliance.

Friday 20 November

Wear yellow for Kindness Counts

We will be wearing yellow and asking for a minimum donation from anyone who joins in. Schools, workplaces and groups are all welcome to do the same — it is an easy one to run, and everything raised stays with the charity and goes back into the anti-bullying work.

For schools · no cost

Book us for an assembly

We come into school and talk to the children about bullying — what it is, what to do about it, and why telling someone is not telling tales. It costs nothing.

Ring Polly to book a date. Anti-Bullying Week fills up quickly, so the earlier the better — and if the week itself is already full, we are happy to come another time. The message works just as well in February.

Official resources

Lesson plans and the resource pack

Anti-Bullying Week is organised by the Anti-Bullying Alliance, and the official resource pack comes from them — lesson plans, assembly packs, posters and films, free to download. If you are planning the week in school, start there.

We are not trying to duplicate any of it. What we add is the assembly, and someone local to ring afterwards when a family needs help.

If something comes up during the week

Assemblies have a way of prompting a conversation afterwards. If a child or a parent needs to talk to someone, ring us on 07506 106853, or see getting help for the national helplines that are open around the clock.
